I’ve been obsessed with the music of Barcelona’s Boliden, aka José María Delgado Diáz, for quite some time. I’ve played his tapes via Oxtail Recordings, Speaker Footage and Chemical Tapes on repeat during both contemplative solo journeys and at carefree, crowded parties. I think that’s what is so beautiful about the music of Boliden—a tendency towards incredibly gripping and goosebump-inducing melodies/washes of sound that mix so well with danceable, pulsing rhythms and a timeless “letting go” vibe. Backyard feels even more reflective and deeply personal than previous releases. The pace slows a bit, and the waves and waves and waves of sound establish an even larger presence on each track. Palpable and deeply engrossing moments of pure bliss and transcendent walls of beauty. Essential tunes from José that I’m very proud to have helped release. Edition of 50 pro-dubbed and imprinted Type II/Chrome cassettes with full-color, double-sided artwork.
