Lost Tribe Sound Been intrigued and enthralled by Mister Water Wet's sense of style and flow for a while now. Somewhere between rhythmic and ambient, loads of old cut-up funk, jazz, and rustic tribal bits scattered about. Just when you think you're in touch with the pattern, a perfectly bizarre tangent presents itself. Easy enough to lose yourself in, or really get in there and enjoy all the intricacies.

ghosttropics MWW puts out some of my favourite sample-based music I have ever heard in my life, without a doubt. These compositions are filled with levels of creativity and bright eyed exploration that I find truly refreshing, and reveal themselves further on each listen. The limitations of genre and the boundaries of expectation begin to blur as each piece reaches to the furthest, most unexpectedly rewarding corners of sound at every turn. Twelve years ago, in the very early days of Lillerne, I linked up with a good friend of mine in Kansas City to work on what would become the label’s twelfth release. Norrit’s “I Wasn’t Ready” backed an A side of woozy, ecstatic remixes and clubby original tracks with a ghostly 15 minutes of patient and deliberately quiet music. This cassette and its dichotomous pairing had a big impact on me and how I think about selecting, archiving, and even listening to music. Tito Fuego returns to Lillerne as Mister Water Wet with another complex and fascinating collection of tunes. “Compost” highlights some of the earliest material from this particular project’s archives. There’s an organic depth and thoughtfully “alive” nature to these tracks, and every sample or fragment herein stands thoroughly on its own as much as it does within the sum. Deep, considerate works suitable for yet another fall season on the farm. Edition of 75 pro-duplicated cassettes.
