Multi-Surface is the project of sound and visual artist Tomokazu Fujimoto. This is the follow-up to his stunning 2013 cassette debut on Patient Sounds Intl. Magic Power of the Magnetic Tape consists of five tracks, all interwoven and complimentary to each other in their space and engrossing dynamic range. Soft percussive samples sit behind lush layers of synths and analog delayed drones. Quiet tape sounds from the recording process underscore each piece and add another level of cohesiveness to the small, tranquil world that Fujimoto creates on this cassette. There is a great deal of patience and thoughtfulness in these songs as they slowly float from one summit to another. A truly meditative and moving group of recordings. Magic Power of the Magnetic tape is cathartic, soothing nighttime music at its finest. Edition of 50, home-dubbed Type II/Chrome cassettes.
