Very excited to bring you a stunning new release by Beta Librae—just as the days begin to get shorter and the nights colder in Chicago and the world beyond. Beta Librae (aka NYC’s Bailey Hoffman) shows her magical knack on this cassette for intertwining powerful grooves into cavernous atmospherics and dark, refined melodies. Faster paced dance tracks like “Voyager 1” or “Anarres” give way to the beautiful nighttime desolation of “The Jarre”— or the otherworldly, string-like arpeggios of “Help”. And “Sea Dune” is probably the best shoegaze track of the 2010s, as far as I can see it. I’ve been blown away by this collection of tracks for a while now, and I’m glad to get to sneak it in at the end of ’16 for the world to be able to share in some deep fall/winter listening. Edition of 75 pro-dubbed Type II/Chrome cassettes with full-color, double-sided artwork by Rechelle Payne and photography by Elizabeth Herring.
