more eaze is the always inspiring and ever-evolving solo project of Texas-based Mari Maurice. I’m super excited for Lillerne to be working with her again on “yearn,” which is Mari’s second release on the label since 2018’s “Conveyance.” “galv” and “leave,” the two long form tracks of the four, both showcase a deep attention paid towards subtle dynamic shifts and the intertwining of thoughtfully considered melodic gestures. Subtle rhythmic patterns, lithe vocal lines and field recordings provide a soft, deeply comforting space over which these wonderful tunes seem to effortlessly unfurl. “priority,” the B side opener and collaboration with Ben Bondy, has all the vocal harmonies and somber chord progression trappings of the best emotional pop music touchstones—carefully slowed and reimagined into four minutes of blissful, atmospheric beauty. “yearn” again shows Maurice’s keen ability to evoke emotion within music, while always leaving space and air for the listener to breathe and interpret each piece of the work. Edition of 75 professionally duplicated cassettes.
